Stimulus – Democrats in a Candy Store
NewsBusters
Look at the smiles on Reid and Schumer’s faces. Is this something to be happy about?

Asked by a reporter if the “economic stimulus” package is big enough, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) points out that the bill is approaching a price tag of 1 trillion dollars.

President Obama last Thursday night stated his belief in the need for urgent action on the economic recovery bill working its way through Congress. “If we do not move swiftly … an economy that is already in crisis will be faced with catastrophe,”

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 44% of Americans agree with Obama and 41% do not.

There is a huge partisan divide on the question. Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Democrats agree with the president’s insistence that failure to pass a bill now means catastrophe, while 64% of Republicans do not. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, 32% say Obama’s right, but 51% don’t agree

Obama’s Decline Continues

There’s little doubt that Obama’s eroding support over the past week is linked to his strident backing of the Democrats’ pork extravaganza, which many people (including the Congressional Budget Office) fear will make the economy worse, not better.

Isn’t is time we all said “I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore”?

“Congress should not enact an expensive spending bill under the pretense of stimulus or recovery. We cannot spend our way to prosperity, and such an expansion of the federal government will put a crushing burden on taxpayers in the long-term.”
