October 27, 2009 access was denied by a group attempting to deliver petitions to the US Senate.
“Congress shall make no law … abridging … the right of the people … to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
— from the First Amendment
In clear violation of the First Amendment, the elitists in charge dismiss the grievances of the people.
Some history
On July 4, 1776, the country’s Founders adopted a famous statement of principles and list of grievances, declaring that:
“In every state of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”
……
As Justice John Paul Stevens stressed in his dissent in Minnesota Board for Community Colleges, “The First Amendment was intended to secure something more than an exercise in futility.” The petition clause ensures that our leaders hear, even if they don’t listen to, the electorate. Though public officials may be indifferent, contrary, or silent participants in democratic discourse, at least the First Amendment commands their audience.
We are not slaves to be ruled over by masters, our representatives are servants of the people. They are not nobility, we are not their subjects.
A rude awakening is in their not so distant future. The high horses they ride will soon all be lame, shot from underneath them.
The US continues to slide downhill and is fast becoming a country unrecognizable to those who truly love her and what she [is supposed] to stand for — Freedom and Liberty.
On a personal note. I think the Obama poster is quite clever.
This video was taken on Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 at Rep. Jim Moran’s (D-VA) Town Hall meeting on Obama Deathcare (Howie Dean was there too) held at South Lakes High School in Reston, VA.
Many people were left outside when the school filled to capacity. School security officer Wesley Cheeks, Jr. did not like my anti-Obamacare poster which used one of the gone-viral “Joker” graphics.
When I said to Officer Cheeks, “This used to be America!” his response was: “It ain’t no more, OK?“
“If ya don’t like ‘em dismiss ‘em. This Administration has
almost taken it to an art form”
Has there ever been such a whiny, arrogant, insecure administration?
They give themselves away by attacking private citizens and in that they are afraid of robust challenge and criticism. Democrats will stop at nothing to protect the O even going as far as to ask for government snitches! No one shall dare question the One.” It is almost as if they consider it blasphemous to do so. Which reminds me of the so called ‘religion of peace’. But I digress…
Update:Union thugs will be out in full force to wage a counter attack against ordinary American citizens airing their well founded grievances against ObamaCare at town halls across the country.
In a memo sent out on Thursday, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney outlined the blueprint for how the union conglomerate would step up recess activities on health care reform and other topics pertinent to the labor community. The document makes clear that Obama allies view the town hall forums as ground zero of the health care debate. It also uses the specter of the infamous 2000 recount “Brooks Brothers” protest to rally its members to the administration’s side.
“The principal battleground in the campaign will be town hall meetings and other gatherings with members of Congress in their home districts,” reads the memo. “We want your help to organize major union participation to counter the right-wing “Tea-Party Patriots” who will try to disrupt those meetings, as they’ve been trying to do to meetings for the last month. …
(Remember the hooligans – many of them Republican Congressional staff – who harassed Florida vote counters in 2000? We can’t let that happen again!).”
A showdown between unions and grassroots conservative organizations could make for an August full of fireworks, with even more dysfunctional town hall meetings. The AFL-CIO is planning to target 50 “high priority districts,” in addition to organizing telephone town hall gatherings.
AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Richard Trumka sends out a scathing statement about the town halls, hitting on Sweeney’s themes and calling the events corporate funded.
Mob rule is not democracy. People have a democratic right to express themselves and our elected leaders have a right to hear from their constituents — not organized thugs whose sole purpose is to shut down the conversation and attempt to scare our leaders into inaction
Union thugs storming town halls. What’s next? Will the Obama Admin endorsed jackboots the New Black Panthers be on the scene intimidating American citizens once again? As the had during election 2008.
I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican.I want you to argue with them and get in their face,”
